Elementary introductions to L-functions

For obvious reasons, it is hard to find very accessible introductions to L-functions. Here are three pieces of exposition where such an introduction is attempted. Perhaps you will find them interesting! And perhaps you can send them to your uncle in order to explain why you love L-functions.

1: A very recent piece from the Senia Sheydvasser's new Substack The Deranged Mathematician: A Very Gentle Introduction to L-functions.

2: Also quite recent, an article in Bhāvanā by Arshay Sheth: Special values of zeta functions.

3: The last one is an old classic, namely Don Zagier's The First 50 Million Prime numbers. He talks mostly about primes, but at the very end you see the connection to the Riemann zeta function.
